Yokomori Manufacturing Co., Ltd. introduced a “tent warehouse” as a storage area for industrial products and parts. Although they did not have high expectations when they decided to introduce the system, they were surprised by the appeal and advantages of the tent warehouse after the installation and actual use of the system.

How did you come to introduce the Tent Warehouse?

The company needed a place to store products and other items, and this is how the “tent warehouse” was introduced. The decision to adopt the system was made at the head office, so we did not know about it until after it had been installed. I did not have a detailed understanding of what a “tent warehouse” was, but I knew the name of Taiyo Kogyo from the beginning. I recognized the name of Taiyo Kogyo when we had a meeting to discuss the installation work.

Do you have any feelings about the construction period for "Tent Warehouse?"

There were quite a few examples of the same product being installed in the surrounding area, and I had the impression that the construction period would be easy and good, but I was surprised that it was even quicker than expected. After the foundation work was completed, it only took two or three days to put up the membrane. The site was just after the Obon vacation, so it was completed after the vacation.

I think this short construction period is very attractive. Moreover, the finished product was also completed in perfect condition, so I felt the strength of a standardized product. As the site manager, I was very impressed by the fact that the company has a long track record and that there were no obstacles to the construction work.

What are some of the positive aspects of the introduction of this system?

We had heard that one of the advantages of a “tent warehouse” was the brightness of the interior, but it really is brighter than we expected. Moreover, since it is natural light that takes advantage of sunlight, it is the best brightness for our work. This has been very helpful.

In some factories, LED or other lighting is used to ensure brightness, but in reality, sunlight is easier to see and work with. When drawing lines, for example, natural light illuminates from all directions, making it difficult to create shadows. When doing precision work, it is much easier to work without shadows, and fewer mistakes are made. Therefore, the brightness provided by sunlight in a “tent warehouse” is one of the very best advantages.

Another good point is that the photocatalytic material works as a self-cleansing agent, so we don’t have to worry about stains even though it is a white film. The area is quite windy and there are many fields in the vicinity, so I thought that rain stains would stand out when it rained, but I was very surprised to see that there was no stain at all. I think it feels very good and gives a good impression of cleanliness that white things are always white from the surroundings.

Also, we have had some noise problems with nearby residences in the past, but we have had no noise-related problems with the “tent warehouse” at all. Overall, we are very satisfied with the Tent Warehouse.

What do you think of Taiyo Kogyo's support system?

I am happy to receive a variety of information via e-mail and phone calls, and to have many opportunities to talk with them, such as in this interview. I don’t get the impression that you just sell and leave it at that, which is very helpful and gives me a good impression. They also give me suggestions and advice on what I can do, which helps me to make good use of the facilities. We have had detailed discussions like that since the construction phase, so I have no worries at all about the support.

Finally, what kind of company would you recommend Tent Warehouse to?

Our products are plated in the end, aren’t they? Therefore, there is no problem in the first place if they are placed outside, but when they are exposed to rain, the plating becomes a little cloudy and white rust develops, which deteriorates the quality. That is why we introduced this system because we wanted a place where we could store them indoors. So I think the “tent warehouse” will be useful for companies that are facing similar problems. The indoor environment is also very good, so I think you will be more than satisfied with the purpose.

It also has a faster construction time than steel-framed ones, which is good for those who want to install it right away or for those who want something somewhat standardized. Since the product has a long history and a proven track record, the quality is stable, and I feel that any destination with a standard design installation will be fine.
