What is Material Handling for Efficient Transportation?

Ltd. and JACUS Co., Ltd. have jointly developed and marketed a “slit container” that dramatically improves the efficiency of on-site transshipment of cargo, thereby dramatically reducing transportation losses.

The “slit container” developed by Taiyo Kogyo in collaboration with JACUS Co., Ltd. is a material handling system that improves transportation efficiency*1 by allowing forklifts to move, load, and unload cargo without pallets.

The container eliminates the waste that occurs with palletized shipments (e.g., retention loss between loading/unloading and retrieval, risk of loss, and unnecessary additional replenishment), and because it can be folded compactly after use and retrieved immediately, it increases the turnover rate of distribution materials and reduces transportation costs by eliminating loss of cargo space.

In addition, the slit container is also effective in reducing the workload of drivers by freeing them from manual loading and unloading of cargo. 　The slit container is made of the same olefin membrane material as the flexible container bag “TAICON,” which is highly trusted and proven in the logistics industry. The container can be moved, stored, and transshipped without touching the cargo inside. (Patent pending)

The standard specifications are 1100 mm x 1100 mm x 1400 mm in internal dimensions and can accommodate cargo of 950 mm x 950 mm to 1100 mm x 1100 mm in flat size and 1000 mm to 1300 mm in height, and can withstand a weight of approximately 600 kg. (Size, maximum weight, etc. can be ordered.)

The company has started selling the slit containers at 11,000 yen per bag (excluding tax) and also offers a service that includes a logistics management system for slit containers as a material handling system*1 to improve transportation efficiency.

Through the supply of these products and services, we will contribute to the realization of a better society by improving various problems faced by the transportation industry, such as the decline in the load factor and the actual vehicle per hour ratio.
