High-performance fluororesin
ETFE film

Features of High Performance Fluoropolymer ETFE Film

Earthquake-proof

ETFE film (250 μm) weighs approximately 440 g/m2 and, as with conventional membrane-structured buildings, can significantly improve earthquake resistance by reducing the load on the building frame. It also has excellent deformation-following properties and does not break and shatter like glass, making interior spaces safer.

Durability

ETFE film membrane materials retain their strength over the long term. Exposure test results show that ETFE film membranes retain their strength over the long term, while other transparent materials lose their tensile strength in a short period of time.

Transparency

500NJ (transparent type, 500 μm) has a visible light transmission rate of 88%.

Thermal insulation

Two (or three) layers of ETFE transparent film can improve thermal insulation performance by trapping air. The effect can be equivalent to that of double glazing. Thermal barrier properties can also be improved by coloring or printing.

Advantages of high-performance fluoropolymer ETFE

Accelerate energy savings by safely incorporating light

Reduces lighting power consumption by providing stable daylight in corridors.
It is used in station corridors because of its high transmittance, maximum transmittance area that can be maximized by framing, and lightweight (approx. 0.5 kg/m2) and flexible characteristics that reduce the risk of breakage or falling due to earthquakes.

The transparent roof also gives it an airport feel

The parking and drop-off lanes were installed so that users of the parking and drop-off lanes can comfortably come and go from the terminal building even on rainy days.
Lightweight, highly durable and permeable pedestrian crossing roof with a view of the sky through the roof.

Bring in sunlight and grow plants indoors

The photo on the right shows a facility for cultivating algae indoors, where the high light transparency of ETFE allows the algae to take in sufficient sunlight for photosynthesis to promote growth.
