Renovation of Osaka Head Office as “Osaka Campus” to be operational from 2024

(Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President: Fumitaka Awano; hereafter “Actio”), an event and facility management company, have jointly renovated a base in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka City, and will begin joint operations at the new location, which will be called “Osaka Campus,” in January 2024.

The Taiyo Group was founded in 1922 as Nomura Tent Shokai, and later restarted with a single sewing machine and a pair of scissors amidst the burnt ruins of the postwar period. The company has created unique products that take advantage of the characteristics of “membrane” materials, and in particular, it took on the construction of a large-scale pavilion for the 1970 Osaka World’s Fair, bringing “membrane” technology to fruition. In addition, TSP Taiyo and ACTIO were born as the company expanded its business domain, forming the three companies of today’s group that originated with Nomura Tent Shokai and grew into a group with total sales of 74 billion yen.

From 2022, on the occasion of the group’s 100th anniversary, we have been promoting activities to strengthen cooperation among the three group companies, such as creating synergies through personnel exchange and joint social contribution activities. Taiyo Kogyo for membrane technology, TSP Taiyo for event production and consulting, and Actio for event and facility management, aim to make further progress as a group by continuing to pursue the possibilities of membranes, spaces, and experiences while enhancing synergy.

At Taiyo Kogyo, reforming the way employees work is a top priority, and the “Osaka Campus” project began with a review of the “way of work” and “the way offices should be” for employees of the three companies. With beautiful design and open spaces such as the Open-AirLab., many spaces were set up for employees to feel “healing”. Even with the increase in teleworking and online meetings, we are aiming to create an Osaka campus where people can be aware of the importance of relationships between people and the connections that transcend the barriers between group companies. The concept is “marble us “*, and the aim is to be surrounded by the sun’s character, multiply it, and refine it.

Until now, the Osaka offices of the three companies had been adjacent to each other but had not established spaces for interaction. This time, those facilities were shared by the entire group, each building was given a different character and a new name, and the roles of the individual buildings were clarified so that employees from each group company could come and go between the buildings. While clarifying the roles, we have created an environment in which employees can work anywhere on the Osaka campus. In particular, ichikan and nikan, which have served as the office functions for the three companies, are now equipped with free-address work spaces that are shared across company boundaries.
