Held “Ceremony to Make an Offer to Join the Company in 2024

(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura; hereafter “Taiyo Kogyo”), a company involved in large-scale membrane surface structures (tent structures) and civil engineering and logistics materials, held an informal ceremony at its Tokyo Head Office on October 2.
The informal ceremony was attended by 29 new graduates (23 males and 6 females) who will join the company in April 2024, as well as the board members. At the ceremony, each of the job offers made a one-minute declaration of their aspirations after joining the company and delivered their thoughts on their entry into the company to the board members. President Nomura handed over the certificates to the representatives of the applicants and gave words of encouragement in his congratulatory address. After the ceremony, a self-promotion contest and marshmallow challenge were held as recreational activities to deepen friendship and mutual understanding among the new recruits.

Nice to meet you. My name is Yumi Nomura, representative of Taiyo Kogyo. It is a pleasure to meet you. When your friends and family ask you what kind of company you joined, what will you say about Taiyo Kogyo? I would like all of you to think about this carefully before you join the company in April. In fact, it is very difficult to explain Taiyo Kogyo. The fact that it is difficult to explain means that we are doing something unique. I would like you all to think about this.
When Taiyo Kogyo was founded, membranes were not the moon-polarized “membranes” we use today, but rather “curtains” used for stage curtains. We added the moon to the name and thought of membranes not as just a material, but as an existence beyond tents, as something that is alive. I would like you to explain Taiyo Kogyo in your own way to the people around you, and I would love to hear from you when you join the company, “What do you think of this way of thinking?
Finally, doing one-of-a-kind work means creating work that no one has ever done before, so it comes with its own set of difficulties. But that is what makes it so rewarding. Nice to meet you. I believe that the roof is the most important element in architecture. A roof provides shelter from rain and sun and a place for people to stay. I am very excited to be able to create such a space, light and bright, using a material called membrane. I still remember how excited I was when I was in junior high school to see the Grand Roof at the Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station and to be able to create such a space. Standing at such an informal ceremony, I feel that I will be in a position to create such a space, and I feel responsible and nervous because of the magnitude of what I will be creating. I will make various efforts to be of help as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support.

After the informal ceremony, a “self-promotion contest” and a “game to find common points” were held as recreational activities to deepen friendship among the informal employees, learn about each other’s personalities, and connect with each other. Finally, the participants challenged each other to the Marshmallow Challenge, a team-building game. Through the game, participants experienced the importance of “role-sharing” and “communication” by working together.

The Marshmallow Challenge is a team-building game in which teams build self-sustaining towers using pasta, tape, string, and marshmallows. The team that builds the tallest tower wins.
