(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura; hereafter “Taiyo Kogyo”), which is engaged in large-scale membrane structures (tent structures) and civil engineering and logistics materials, was contracted by Mie Toyota Motor Corporation (Head Office: Tsu City, Mie Prefecture; President: Noriaki Takebayashi) to fabricate and construct a membrane structure for “Mobinavi Dome,” a facility dedicated for drone training. (headquartered in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture; President: Noriaki Takebayashi) for the “Mobi Navi Dome,” a facility dedicated to drone training.
In recent years, drones have been used not only for aerial photography of landscapes, but also for surveying, inspection, agriculture, etc. In December 2022, a national qualification for drone operation (Unmanned Aircraft Operator Technical Skills Certification System) will be established, allowing “Level 4 flight,” which previously prohibited flying over a third party without assistance and out of sight. The new system allows for “Level 4 flights,” which previously were prohibited. The newly constructed “Mobi Navi Dome,” a facility dedicated to drone training, will sell drones and operate a drone school for the national certification.
The “Mobi Navi Dome” is a “flex house” with a building area of approximately 900 m2 and a height of approximately 15 m, built with a membrane structure. The “Flex System,” a proprietary membrane construction method that shortens construction time and lowers costs, is used. Based on our long-standing technology and expertise in membrane structural construction, we manufacture the components at our own factory, resulting in high quality and shortened construction period. The Flex House does not require any pillars inside the building, making it ideal as a training facility for drone flights. The size and height of the building can be flexibly set, and the facility is 15 meters high, which is sufficient for drone training. In addition, the walls and roof are made of tent material, which allows sunlight to penetrate the building, creating a bright, clean indoor space that requires no lighting during the day, reducing energy consumption. Indoor drone exercises have problems with light from lighting equipment obstructing visibility, and natural light through membrane materials that soften the sun’s rays is ideal for drone training facilities.
In response to the growing need for drone training facilities in recent years, MHI plans to consider this facility as a standard model for drone training facilities.
