Taiyo Kogyo Corporation
(Tokyo Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka Head Office: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Yumi Nomura), a manufacturer of large membrane surface structures (tent structures), civil engineering and logistics materials, has constructed two new factory buildings (Buildings 2 and 3) on the site of its Fukui Plant (Fukui Taiyo Corporation, located in Technoport, Ishiinbocho, Fukui City, a wholly owned subsidiary of Taiyo Kogyo). With the construction of these two new buildings, the Fukui Plant will have a total floor area of approximately 14,000 m2 , which is 2.2 times the size of the previous plant. The capital investment for the new plant building will be approximately 1.2 billion yen.
Reorganized production system to accommodate orders for the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025
Taiyo Kogyo plans to participate in the construction of many pavilions, including the “Kansai Pavilion” (Kansai Pavilion) for the Osaka-Kansai Expo to be held in 2025. As a result, the Hirakata Plant (Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture) will specialize in the manufacture of customized products for the Osaka-Kansai Expo. Manufacturing of tent products such as “Tent Warehouse” and “Mc-Quick Shelter,” which were previously manufactured at the Hirakata Plant, will be transferred to the newly constructed Fukui Plant Buildings No. 2 and No. 3. With this move, we have established a structure that will enable us to respond to the construction of the Osaka/Kansai Expo pavilions while maintaining our existing manufacturing capacity.
Regarding factory personnel, approximately 15 skilled workers with expertise in manufacturing existing products will be temporarily transferred to the Fukui Plant. Under the guidance of these staff members, the newly hired personnel will be trained and full-scale production is planned to begin as soon as possible.
Fukui Plant is the largest manufacturing base for logistics container backs in Japan
The Fukui Plant began operations in 1969. It operates as a JIS (Z1651) labeling-approved plant for container bags (flexible containers) for material handling called “Ticon,” and is the largest flexible container manufacturing plant in Japan with a monthly production scale of 10,000 bags. This time, a new building will be constructed on this site to manufacture tent products such as “Tent Warehouse” and “McQuick Shelter,” which have not been produced so far. The number of employees at the plant is planned to increase by 1.4 times over the next year or so compared to the previous facility.
