The COOL MQ heat stroke countermeasure tent, which went on sale in June, is a new product lineup that includes the McQuick Shelter emergency air tent with a heat-shielding sunshade flysheet and a dedicated air conditioner as an optional accessory, providing a comfortable space by reducing indoor temperature and humidity. The new product protects the health of people who have spent time in harsh environments, including heat stroke caused by extreme heat, and enables speedy operation with its easy installation and removal.
Among them, the newly introduced dedicated air conditioner is a unit type in which the indoor and outdoor units are integrated, and has a high cooling capacity of 3.6 kW. It is easy to install and move to the shelter as it is equipped with casters, and it demonstrates excellent cooling performance in synergy with the sunshade fly sheet.
In a demonstration test conducted under clear skies in mid-summer when a dedicated air conditioner was installed, the measured temperature in the center of the tent was maintained at minus 5°C compared to the outside temperature. The “McQuick” air conditioner is also designed to be used with the “McQuick” air conditioner.
The main unit, “McQuick Shelter,” is an emergency air tent that has been delivered to fire departments and Self-Defense Forces nationwide since its launch in 2006, and has earned a high level of trust. The tent has played an important role on the front lines of disaster sites, taking advantage of its quick-response capability to be up and running in about one minute with the use of an electric pump. Recognized for its high performance, the company has expanded product functions to meet diversifying needs, such as the “negative pressure type for medical use” (launched in 2007) developed as a countermeasure against a new strain of influenza, bringing the total number of units sold to 1,500, including those sold overseas.
The development of the “COOL MQ,” which is now available for sale, began in September last year, following the introduction of the air-conditioned “McQuick Shelter” for restoration work under the blazing sun in the aftermath of the torrential rains that hit western Japan in July last year, and its contribution to maintaining workers’ health.
The COOL MQ is priced at 1,110,000 yen*2 for the 3m x 2m size (model CMQ322), and other types such as 3m x 4m and 4m x 4m types are also available.
Through the development and sales of COOL MQ, Taiyo Kogyo hopes to contribute to the reduction of heat stroke, which has become a social issue.
