Taiyo Kogyo Corporation
(Tokyo headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka headquarters: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Hidefumi Araki), a “membrane shop” that handles large membrane surface structures (tent structures), has recently added a function for linking digital construction photos to the free iPhone application“Mirai Construction 2 ” developed in-house for the construction industry. This has been certified as a “photography tool with an electronic blackboard “*1 compatible with the photo management software used for electronic delivery of public works projects.
Since acquiring permission for use in public works projects in 2017, Mirai Construction 2 has undergone a series of functional updates to further improve operational efficiency.
In the past, compatibility between digital construction photography tools and tools for organizing the photographs was a major issue in the electronic delivery of construction projects directly under the control of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism. Field workers had to use tools from the same manufacturer or combine tools from a very limited number of manufacturers. Incompatible combinations caused problems such as incorrect recognition of construction information assigned to digital construction photos, which resulted in problems such as the inoperability of the automatic sorting function, which could cause complicated and time-consuming work in the electronic delivery process that was originally intended to improve efficiency throughout the industry.
The JACIC*2 sponsored council, in which we participate, was commissioned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to study electronic blackboards, and last year established a unified specification for compatibility among different manufacturers. This software has been approved as compatible with photo management software for electronic delivery that has the same specifications.
The number of downloads of “Mirai Construction 2” has reached approximately 20,000 users and 4,000 users by February of this year, and the application is gaining recognition as an application that improves work efficiency. The application features the ability to create a “construction photo ledger,” which is a document used to report the status of construction work on site. The photo ledger is automatically created in the cloud at the time the photos are taken, simplifying the administrative work of pasting and editing photo data taken with a digital camera into a spreadsheet on a PC. The cloud linkage also greatly reduces the lead time required for exchanging photos between related parties. In addition, editing work on PCs, which used to require overtime work after the completion of construction, can be dispersed to free time through the use of smart devices.
Taiyo Kogyo Corporation is constantly striving to improve its construction operations while placing the highest priority on safety. We hope that Mirai Construction 2 will be used not only by our construction department, but also by a wide range of construction sites involved in building and civil engineering, thereby helping to improve operations in the industry as a whole.

Overview of "Mirai Construction 2"
◆Application name: Mirai Construction 2 (dedicated website: http: //www.miraikoji2.com)
◆New release start date: January 9, 2019
Price: Free (up to approx. 60 photos)
Paid plans (500 yen/ID/month – 1,980 yen/ID/month)
Features:
1. Automatic creation of photo ledgers
You can use your iPhone or iPad, eliminating the need for a digital camera. A ledger is created on the spot, so photos can be re-taken and organized immediately. The created ledger can be shared online as a URL or PDF file, eliminating the need for on-site personnel to open a computer.
2、Easy editing and data sharing on PC
Ledgers created with the application are automatically stored in the cloud and can be edited from a computer. Real-time editing by multiple people is now possible, allowing people in the office to start working on a report at the same time that photography is completed in the field.
3、Efficiency is further improved with ledger templates, electronic blackboards, and bulletin board functions.
Once a ledger has been created, it can be registered as a template, and when combined with the history function, the previously entered information can be recalled.
Since the ledger can be prepared in advance, it is possible to simply take pictures and replace them on site. This eliminates the need to input text on the device, which has been a bottleneck in the spread of electronic blackboards. In addition, each ledger is equipped with a bulletin board function, facilitating simultaneous editing by multiple people.
4、Main Results of Effectiveness
Reduction of time required to create construction photo ledgers by 1/3.
No need to return to the office to complete work, resulting in zero overtime.
70% reduction in time from completion of construction to submission of reports
Standardization of work using ledger templates
Quality improvement through reduction of phone calls and e-mails in the field
