Taiyo Kogyo Corporation

(Tokyo headquarters: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Osaka headquarters: Yodogawa-ku, Osaka; President: Hidefumi Araki), a manufacturer of large tent structures such as the roof of the Tokyo Dome, has recently concluded agreements with four municipalities in Kochi Prefecture to supply large tents for temporary storage of relief supplies and emergency evacuation in the event of a large-scale disaster. The agreement is for the supply of “large tents” that can be used for temporary storage of relief supplies and emergency evacuation in the event of a large-scale disaster.

The new agreement, officially named “Agreement on the Supply of Emergency Tents and Other Materials and Equipment in the Event of a Disaster” (hereinafter referred to as the “Disaster Agreement”), was established by the Company and the Kochi Tent Sheet Industry Association (President: Hiroshi Asatsu) with four municipalities in Kochi Prefecture to prepare for the Nankai Trough earthquake and wind and flood damage that has been occurring frequently throughout the country in recent years. In the event of an emergency, the local government will request the Company to provide the tents. Preparations began a year ago, with the establishment of a contact point in the event of an emergency, as well as the sharing of information on the content and quantity of materials that can be supplied and their suppliers, We have also shared information on the contents, quantities, and suppliers of materials that can be supplied, and have worked to build a system.
We plan to bring in large tents, which were used in the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Kumamoto Earthquake, and set them up on site. After delivery, they will be used for temporary storage of relief supplies and emergency evacuation.
On November 17, a signing ceremony for the agreement was held at the Susaki City, Shimanto Town, and Nakatosa Town offices, with the three cities and towns officially signing the agreement on the same day, and Konan City, which had exchanged the agreement in advance, on October 13.

Taiyo Kogyo has supplied large tents and other equipment in past large-scale earthquakes, such as the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995 and the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, and has learned from this experience that various coordination and approval procedures are required to set up tents in times of confusion. The disaster agreement is expected to reduce the time required for these procedures and speed up the start-up of the local recovery support system.
We hope to use this agreement as a starting point to expand the scope of our disaster preparedness agreements with local governments and contribute to the realization of a secure society by strengthening our preparedness for the Nankai Trough earthquake that is expected in the near future.
