Report on the Occurrence of Unauthorized Access
July 2024 As announced on our website on July 1, 2024 As announced on our website on July 1, 2024, we confirmed on June 9, 2024, that an external cyber attack had caused damage to a part of our information system. After the unauthorized access was discovered, various security measures to prevent additional attacks have already been implemented.
According to an investigation by an external security vendor, unauthorized access to the VPN between June 2 and June 8, 2024, resulted in the theft of server administrator privileges, resulting in file encryption and data leakage to external parties. As a result of our investigation into this incident, we have confirmed that there is a possibility of leakage of personal data of some of our business partners and our employees. Although the encrypted files are difficult to decrypt (damage to personal data), we recognize that there is a high possibility that they contain some personal data. Individuals who can be notified have been sent individual notifications.
The personal data that may have been leaked as a result of this incident mainly consists of names, company names, and addresses, and no information such as credit card or personal numbers has been confirmed. We have not confirmed any disclosure, external distribution, or unauthorized use of the information that is believed to have been leaked from our company. If you receive any suspicious e-mails, please do not open them or access the URLs listed on them.
In this case, unauthorized access also occurred to our group company, East Japan Container Service Co. The outline of the case is the same as above. However, some of the files were encrypted, and the possibility of damage to personal data cannot be denied.
We deeply apologize for the concern and inconvenience this has caused to all concerned.
